CHIEF ENGINEER

Located in the vibrant heart of fashion district of Milan, The Carlton, opening in 2025, will have 71 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a wellness center and an exclusive garden lounge with an amazing view of the city. Designed by Olga Polizzi in collaboration with Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen, the interior will combine tradition and modernity, delivering an authentic Milanese experience. Situated in a prime location overlooking Via della Spiga, renowned for its luxury boutiques, and just a few steps from Via Montenapoleone, The Carlton is set to become the new landmark of the fashion district.

 

Main purpose:

The Chief Engineer will be in charge of directing all related aspects of the hotel and of the Rocco Forte House, Milan maintenance, utility systems, physical building structures, grounds, all mechanical, electrical, pool systems and related equipment and resources.

He/she will ensure all project completion in an efficient and timely manner leading the maintenance team to meet company specifications and comply with regulations.

Reports to: Hotel Manager.

 

Main duties & responsibilities:

·        Organise, coordinate and oversee the maintenance team to ensure that daily operations are efficiently carried out in order to guarantee that our Guests receive the ultimate stay with us;

·        Perform quality control checks, ensuring the safety and effectiveness or reliability of the systems and equipment, creating and executing preventive maintenance plans;

·        Recommend any best practice that could improve efficiency as for example energy efficiency or water saving;

·        Prepare reports, such as statistical and data analysis reports, for all engineering processes.

·        Responsible for selection, appraisal and professional training and development of maintenance staff. Responsible for talent management, acting as a coach and trainer for all the maintenance staff; Responsible for staff time keeping and rotas of the maintenance department;

·        Develops an operating budget for the Maintenance department revenue, costs, staffing and all necessary equipment, monitoring and taking corrective actions to help assuring that budgeted sales and cost goals are attained;

·        Responsible for the status, the integrity and the maintenance of all the maintenance equipment;

·        Supervise any external contractor when working in the property in order to ensure efficiency and compliance with H&S and Rocco Forte Hotel standards;

·        Ensure the hotel complies with all relevant laws, including H&S and fire prevention. Ensure staff has proper safety equipment in place.

Other requirements:

·        At least 3 years of experience in the same role in Italy;

·        Bachelor's degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related will be a plus. 

·        Fluency in English and Italian.

·        Excellent problem solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities.

·        Motivation and ability to work in a fast and multitasking environment.

·        Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.

·        Full knowledge of H&S regulations.
